League of Legends World Champions
League of Legends World Champions are now free agents. This is due to the expiry of their contracts with DRX. DRX has stated that its League of Legends squad, consisting of Kingen, Pyosik, Zeka, Deft, and Beryl, are now free agents after their contracts expired.
On its official Twitter account, DRX expressed gratitude to the five players for their services to the squad, which just won the 2022 League of Legends World Championship.
However, DRX will discuss contract renewals with the players, and if an agreement is reached, we can anticipate them to remain wearing the DRX uniform. Meanwhile, DRX revealed that the contracts of its League of Legends coaches, Ssong, Mowgli, and Shine, had expired as well.
DRX’s Cinderella run at Worlds 2022 is by far the team’s most notable achievement. They finished sixth overall in the League of Legends World Champions Korea (LCK) 2022 Summer Split regular season, and many fans expected the squad to miss out on the Worlds in 2022.
DRX, on the other hand, proved their critics wrong by finishing second in the LCK 2022 Regional, qualifying them for the Worlds 2022 as the fourth seed from the LCK. Then, in Worlds 2022, League of Legends World Champions DRX proceeded from the preliminary round to the finals, defeating T1 in Game 5 to claim their first Worlds championship title.
It is uncertain if these players and coaches will remain with DRX in 2023 or accept offers from other clubs.
